How to be shafted least... {{forumTopicSubject}}
Hi guys and girls,
I'm a Scot who is in the process of trying to get a job so I can finally live with my Danish girlfriend after about 6 years of long distance relationship. As such I've been trying learn a bit about cars in Denmark, and work out the best way ahead.
I've been wanting to do a few things with cars for years now, and was hoping to have a go when I eventually get a garage to work in, HOWEVER it seems like your government hates anything with 4 wheels, which has me both concerned and confused. Some advice would be greatly appreciated!
What I hope to have a go with is to get an old American car (think Buick Regal from late 70's) and convert it to electric power as a project car. Will I be able to register that for legal road use over here? Assuming the end result can be registered - what advice can you provide for a donor car? I'm currently based in Sweden and there are heaps of suitable cars, but importing might be a headache. For example, I don’t need a car that runs as a donor car, since I’d be replacing the engine and gearbox anyway, but can something that doesn’t run be imported and registered? Does it need to run to be registered? I’d rather pay import taxes as close to the start of the project as possible rather than presenting a running machine years down the line that they can then assess as being quite valuable and taxing me on it!
A few other questions, but I’ll leave them out for now. Hopefully you folk can help me out.
